Al Gore & Saad Amer of Plus1vote Team Up to Urge Gen Z to Vote for Climate Action

With less than 45 days to go before this year’s historic election, the former Vice President and Plus1Vote’s Saad Amer come together to engage youth voters

Washington, D.C (September 21, 2020) – To mark National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 22, Climate Reality Action Fund is partnering with Plus1Vote to host “Our Future Is on the Ballot: A Conversation with former Vice President Al Gore and Plus1Vote’s Saad Amer.” The event will be livestreamed on the Climate Reality Action Fund Facebook page at 7:00pm EST.

As wildfires ravage the Western United States and hurricanes continue to batter the Southeast, the reality of the climate crisis could not be clearer. In this virtual, intergenerational conversation, Vice President Gore and Saad Amer, founder of Plus1Vote, will address this ongoing crisis and the stakes of the November election. Together, they will discuss the importance of mobilizing people of all ages – especially young and first-time voters – to the polls in support of climate action up and down the ballot.

“Young people are the moral voice of the climate movement,” said Al Gore. “They have shown those in power that they will no longer accept empty promises or inaction. With so much at stake this November, it’s more important than ever that they take this message directly to the ballot box. I remain optimistic because of organizations like Plus1Vote that are mobilizing young people to demand a better future. We can and will win this fight because of them.”

“A new generation of voters demands and deserves to have the next generation of problems answered by our democracy,” said Saad Amer. “This November, we need to take the fight to the ballot box and tell our politicians that we will not allow them to continue ignoring reality and stealing our futures. We will continue to fight for social justice, strike for the climate and march straight to the polls to vote out every politician who won’t act.”
